MOON TOWNSHIP, PA, Nov. 15, 2016 – At the invitation of Robert Morris University, Mark Miner, publisher of the popular book Forged in Steel, presented to about 30 top scholar athletes at this evening's Colonial Leadership Academy about the Pittsburgh Steelers’ time-tested way of leadership.

Athletic Director Craig Coleman

Forged in Steel is co-authored by Tunch Ilkin of the Steelers and Damian Williams of Leadership League.

Led by RMU Athletic Director Craig Coleman, M.D., the Academy is a three-year program designed to develop increasingly complex leadership skills for sophomores through seniors across its platform of 16 varsity sports programs. Students learn from case studies, dinner speakers, seminars and mentors about the skills they will need to succeed after college.

With a current enrollment of more than 5,300 students, RMU’s average graduation rate of student athletes is 73 percent, compared with 63 percent as the national average for all Division I student-athletes. Fifty RMU student-athletes have been honored as the Northeast Conference Scholar-Athlete for their sport since 1988, including four in 2015-2016.

Forged in Steel is the first book on the national market analyzing leadership through the perspective of a National Football League franchise, and has been widely praised for its impact by the news media and by sports, business and community leaders.
